In some ways, the Norder Cove Cottage reminds us of the local puffin: it’s compact, efficient and utterly adorable. The layout has been designed to maximize the space—long winters of yore meant plenty of indoor time trying not to drive each other crazy—and although the interior lacks nothing in comfort and style, the idea is to draw the gaze outwards. This isn’t your everyday ocean view; this one is EPIC. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised if you take up residence on the sun deck and refuse to budge. From your deck chair you can survey your kingdom: all that ocean, frothy and blue, dotted with icebergs or sea birds (depending on the season) and rushing to the rugged coast. If you do venture out (and we heartily suggest you do), you’ll find historic root cellars, a rollicking music scene, and enough birds to make a twitcher twitch! You’re also near something that’s rarer than hens’ teeth: a sandy North Atlantic beach that’s great for swimming. We tells ya, Norder Cove Cottage is some shockin’ good.
